Lightning protection

A lightning protection system essentially consists of air-termination conductors, down conductors and earth electrodes. It is installed in accordance with the Electrosuisse guidelines for lightning protection systems 4022.

Based on these guidelines, all previously described earth electrodes can also be used for lightning protection systems. However, please note that a disconnecting device should be installed in every connection between the earth electrode and down conductor in order to carry out control measurements.
The bolt clamp Art. no. 48023 is ideally suited as a disconnecting device. This is particularly mechanically resistant and weatherproof. Installation in a building recess or the special housing item no. 48010 protects the terminal from unauthorized tampering.
Existing reinforcements in concrete walls can serve as down conductors if they extend from the air-termination cables to the earth electrode and are electrically well connected to each other. The universal clamping plate Art. No. 48012 is suitable for such connections by reliably connecting reinforcing steel to each other or to metal parts of the building. In addition, the branch lugs Art. No. 48029N can also be used at the transition from the reinforcement in walls or flat roofs to the air-termination system.

Depending on the type of building, the lightning protection system must be connected to the equipotential bonding inside the building. The material listed under equipotential bonding is suitable for this purpose.
