Flat cable system SMI
SMI drives with flat cable system
SMI (Standard Motor Interface) is a fieldbus system for controlling electronic drives for blinds, shutters, windows and ventilation flaps. It offers numerous advantages over conventional drives, including simpler wiring and the ability to provide feedback.
Flat cable systems for SMI drives
Flat cable systems are particularly suitable for installing SMI drives in the interior of buildings as well as in facade areas. They offer decisive installation advantages, such as:
- Savings in installation times and costs
- Easy adaptation in the event of changes in use
- Low sources of error during electrical installation
By using flat cable systems, you can install SMI drives more efficiently and cost-effectively and benefit from the advantages of this modern fieldbus system.
Choose the right flat cable system with IP20/40 or IP66/68 protection class for your individual requirements and optimize your electronic drives.
Along the SMI motor drives in the interior of the building, the flat cable is carried along and provided with a flat cable end piece at both ends. The flat cable is fed in at any point by a feeder box, where a round cable leads to a sub-distribution, which provides the power and bus signal for the flat cable.
Now a tap-off to the SMI drive can be made at any point along the flat cable. This is realized with a 5-pole outgoing socket as "screw" or "plug" variant IP20. Pre-assembled connection cables, available in various lengths, are used to connect the SMI motor drives to the proven plug-in systems. The installation is thus completed.
