Banderder
When using a conductor laid in the concrete foundation, also known as a banderder, special measures must be observed.
If the concrete foundation has no reinforcement or the existing reinforcing steel does not have the prescribed minimum diameter and cross-section, a special conductor is required as a closed ring in the foundation. This conductor can be made of strip steel, round steel or steel cable.
The special conductor must be completely enclosed by at least 50 mm of structural concrete to protect it against corrosion. Banderders should be laid on edge and fixed in such a way that their position remains unchanged during concreting to prevent poorly conducting air pockets.
If reinforcement is present, it must be connected to the earth conductor at least every 5 meters via a short-circuit current-proof connection. All connection points along the conductor must be made electrically conductive by means of clamping, crimping or equivalent connections.
Minimum requirements for foundation earth electrodes with specially installed conductors:
Bonding earth electrode in concrete with reinforcement
- Very suitable for large industrial buildings
- Easy to install
- Excellent detectability of the earth conductor
- A short-circuit current-proof connection to the reinforcement must be created at least every 5 meters using a clamp.
- Connect the steel strip at least 25 × 3 mm around the building to form a closed ring.
- Distance to the base of the foundation at least 5 cm.
- Optimal material: bare or galvanized steel strip 25 × 3 mm or 30 × 3 mm.
Banderder in concrete without reinforcement
- Earthing strap supports for stable, upright positioning before concreting
- Connect steel strip at least 30 × 3 mm around the building to form a closed ring
- Lay on edge and support every 2-3 meters.
